So here you have a great business, but no website on online presence to advertise? Sure your have a your FB, but really do you want to deal with all their worthless restrictions, and then have them turn your page off, because of some rule you didn't follow? You have otions to build a site, you can go online to Squarespace, Godaddy, ect.. or any host provider and get hosting for your site. Some of you might be asking "What is hosting, or host provider?" You can use their boring, horrific templates to start your site yourself (usually this doesn't look very professional), or you can pay someone else to build your site temporarily then leave you after the site is built with having to support the site yourself with the hosting provider that they used to for your site. (Again, this can be painful and unproductive use of your time.)
Now ask yourself, what happens when your site crashes because of an update? What happens when a link to your site is no longer working? Where are your backups for the site in case it crashes? Is the site secure from hackers? What if I want to add additional functionality to the site with other plugins and features? How does the host provider handle updates for backend processing to ensure the site stays up to date, secure, and compatible with latest releases? What happens if your site starts taking on more and more traffic, and now you want to increase the availablity of your site to other countries and places?
Do you enjoy spending hours on the phone with host technical support? Who honestly in my experience, don't know much more about how the site works or runs, than you do? Do you really care? It's just a website, why doesn't it just stay up and running? Why does it have to be this complex? Why do I need to concern myself with all of this? Where is my login and password to this host provider? So I can call them now, and waste hours on the phone with people that are supposed to have technical background, and assist with these issue, but really are just a waste of time, and taking my money to host a site that they don't even know how it works! All I want to do is attend to my business and keep my site up and running for my clients!
I myself once had a situation where my site was crashing, I won't mention the host, but I spent hours on the phone with them, and found out that I was in a shared environment, and the upgrade recently done had crashed my site and others, however, I explained to them I had been taking backups of the site, only to find out that the host provider was not allowing access to shared folders for the backups to actually work. So essentially I lost most of my updated site, and had to start all over again from an old backup they had, to get it semi-restored.
I started exploring different hosting solutions, beginning with Red Hat Linux Cloud, then moving to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and finally settling on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud—where we host all our sites today. Now, we manage both our own and client sites within our own cloud instances, giving us complete control over backups, updates, security, and performance.
No more wasted hours on the phone with a hosting provider that doesn’t truly care about your site, your business, or you! Instead, any issues or additional requirements can be handled directly and efficiently. The days of relying on faceless companies just to keep your site running—while they collect endless renewal fees—are coming to an end. Times are changing, and full control is now within reach.
